He / She Who Has the Power - Has the Power — A Societal Constellation Reflection

Each month, I host a Societal Constellation — a collective exploration of the unseen dynamics shaping our shared human experience. These gatherings invite us to step beyond personal stories and enter the wider field: what happens when we look at life through a systemic, relational, and sometimes cosmic lens?.

Understanding the February Societal Constellation

“He or she who has the power — has the power.”

This was the theme we explored in our February societal constellation, when twelve of us gathered to observe some of the deeper undercurrents moving through the collective field.

Initially, I meant power quite literally: the energy that powers machinery and the mechanisms of everyday life — electricity, fossil fuels, renewables, and the infrastructure that allows modern society to function. I wanted to see what role this kind of power, and who controls it, might play within the wider system.

What unfolded was far more unexpected.

Setting the Field

There was an immediate buzz in the room as we discussed the elements to be represented. Reactions to the word “power” varied, and it became clear very quickly that the Earth elements needed to be included.

These constellation days are essentially experiments — designed to update our internal data about systemic forces, not to fix anything in particular.

The representatives we eventually placed in the field were:

Representatives in the Field

  • Consumers (later split into Domestic and Commercial)

  • Regulators

  • Power Grid Networks

  • Planetary Impacts

  • Electricity

  • Production

  • Power Companies / Distributors

  • Planet Earth

  • Raw Materials

At one point I wondered whether I had asked the right question. Yet in this work, there is no wrong question — so we continued.

What Unfolded

The field quickly revealed curious movements and an unusual energy:

  • The planetary elements clustered together.

  • Power grid networks felt old, outdated, and in need of an upgrade.

  • Regulators felt large and powerful, but a subtle energy suggested something else was behind them: who exactly are they regulating for?

  • Electricity literally buzzed everywhere — one Earth element even said, “You’re making me feel sick. Please go away.”

  • Consumers and other elements seemed lost, as if something crucial was missing.

We tried introducing money, but it did little to shift the energy. Bringing in a representative for what is missing also offered limited insight.

It almost felt like we were witnessing the emergence of a completely new form of energy — something hinted at by the planetary and Earth elements, but not yet fully discovered or understood.

The human parts of the constellation kept searching for technological or invention-based solutions.

The planetary elements’ message was clear:

No. It’s here. Look here. It has been here all along.

The constellation revealed missing parts — not just elements in the field, but maybe in the framing of the question itself, the question seemed small for what was revealed. Power is not only about who controls electricity or fuel — the dynamics are far broader.

Connecting the Dots

To be honest I was a bit baffled by some of the things that emerged in this piece of work - and it has taken me a while to write it up. It was as if there was so much more in that system - I just couldn't put my finger on it. In the weeks following the constellation, I listened to several podcasts and webinars that began to fill in the gaps:

  • The Great Simplification with Nate Hagens — Could the West lose the resource war? AI, rare earths, and economic statecraft

  • The Misunderstood History of CO₂: The Science Behind Earth’s Most Controversial Molecule — Peter Brannen

And I was send this video recording by someone who had been on the constellation - saying "this is the constellation from Thursday"

  • Power and the Polycrisis: Who wins, who loses? — London Interdisciplinary School webinar

One sentence in another random podcast about architect AI with Robert Edward Grant and Emilio Oritz (full disclosure, I did not finish this podcast) particular stood out:

“The answers to everything we need are already here — we just haven’t discovered them yet.”

It resonated strongly with the constellation’s Earth elements: the answers are already here. Look here.

These conversations helped me see that the question of who controls power fits with the theme that emerged in that constellation - that it is far larger than I had initially imagined.

The Afternoon Vignette

After another bountiful bring and share lunch we regathered to explore a small vignette on what powers us - Our Life Force Energy....

We set up

  • You

  • Your Life Force Energy

  • Your Life Purpose

The experience was poignant. Stepping into my vignette felt like the next movement in a constellation I had done four years ago, just before my husband died. Interestingly, the same person who had represented an important element in that earlier constellation appeared again — this time as my life force energy.

It was playful, alive, and vibrant. Yet I realised I had not fully connected with it before because there was something I needed to leave behind. The movement made complete sense and I am left with the feeling of a big chapter having ended and a new one beginning.

Others in the group also experienced meaningful insights.

Personal Anchors from This Work

  • Power comes in many forms.

  • Life force energy is always present.

  • Our invitation is to step into its flow.

  • It is the animating force of evolutionary potential.

  • It connects us with the emergent future.

  • It is the energy of life itself — perhaps our deepest form of power.

Understanding this shifts perspective. When we are aligned with life force energy, we are connected to a grid far more powerful — and always up to date.

Power is often framed as something external — yet this constellation reminds us of a broader truth: power also flows through the living systems that sustain us. Perhaps the invitation is not simply to ask who holds the power, but to remember that we ourselves are part of the current through which power moves. When we reconnect with that flow — within ourselves and across the wider web of life — we may find that the answers we seek have always been present.

One final reflection that visited me while I was finishing writing this, was that maybe, the missing element for the first constellation was LIFE FORCE ENERGY?
